  • Setting a colour to CutContour in X3

Posted by Gary Birch on 21 October 2009 at 16:22

    Hi all
I have been trying to set a colour in my pallette to CutContour and while I can rename the colour, when I export as a eps instead of getting the marching ants in Versaworks i just get a solid line of my chosen colour. What am I doing wrong?

A step by step guide would be a great help if anyone has the time.

    Thanks in advance

I don’t use your rip mate. But what I do in the Onyx rip is enable the software to cutcontour. The path you send with your image has to be a light green. When CutContour’s enabled in the rip it recognises the green path as a not printable image, so sends this to the Cut server ready for decal cutting.
    Hope this makes sense?

Have you made sure that the line width is a Hairline as well as CutContour we use X3 all the time and Versaworks so if that doesnt work ill try to give you a more detailed option if neccessary

gary i don’y know VW but its the colour name that has to be correct not the colour.

in rolands colourrip you make a new colour from the chart in corel then give it the cutpath name (CutContour) i think for VW

Thanks for you help guys. I have done this before and cannot for the life of me remember just how.

I have made sure I have named the colour CutContour as previously done and in fact the same as I have it on the pc which is set up to create cut contours for Versaworks. I am thinking outloud here but can I save that palette and then open it on the other pcs?

I am pretty sure that I have seen detailed instructions on here before but after numerous searches cannot for the life of me find it.

Thanks for the help so far with this.

    Cheers

same as chris i run colorip and colour has to be called ‘cutpath’ but also make sure in vw in print setup you have the ‘process cut path’ box checked, good luck, craig
