can anyone help with an outline problem?
Posted by Paul Goddard on 15 October 2009 at 10:57Hi trying to create outline/ shadow effects doing ok but been asked to do an outline thats not as full as the main text so if you got a B it will only be a line and couple of curves. Any help please.
Thanks

That’s going to depend on what software you are using as they don’t all work the same way.

dont know the answer – but brows the corel forum will probably give you the solution

Do you mean to give the effect of just the offset shadow, without the original text on there ?
If so, the way I do it is to make the text, convert to curves, then copy and paste the text so you have two copies of the same thing, one on top of the other.
Next move the top one so it is offset from the bottom one ( one space up and one space left, or whatever you need to get the look you want ) then select both and minus the back from the front, leaving just the shadow as an object on its own.
Not sure if this is what you are trying to do as your description isnt very clear ?

Sorry Mike
Just read it properly….. X4 😳
I’d go with Mike’s suggestion but you could also use the Smart Fill Tool for the same effect.

I use X3, which is basically the same.
Smart fill is OK, but tends to be too ‘automatic’ for my liking, doing it manually means you have a lot more control over fine tuning positioning etc…

Think you need 2 B’s, move the second (lower) to the position you need it. Convert to curves then Weld using the "back minus front tool………….simples (if that is what you were after)
Example Here – http://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=345641#345641

Dont make your outline too small, you will find you get problems with longevity if you are using cut vinyl……………..
