  • Problems saving and opening a Document

Posted by Harry Cleary on 13 October 2009 at 08:54

Best start at the begining……I am doing a 16 page a5 brochure in Corel. It has text and picture elements. I saved it after finishing working on it last night. When I tried to open it this morning the Corel A.R.M. kept coming on and closing the program. After struggling with it for a few hours I eventually got the document open however when I try to save it the A.R.M. keeps coming on and not allowing it.
Is there any way to find out what is corrupt in the doc or a way to stop this happening and salvage the work to date?
Corel works fine with other documents.
    Help!!

ah… yes you are right.. there is an element within your document that is not being saved correctly.

Really hard to do… if the file isn’t too large, then copy and paste in the new document all that you need… see if you can save that new document… if that doesnt work, then start simplifing.

    Maybe a dodgy font?
    maybe a dodgy graphics import.

Harry try and select the contents of each page then select save, with selected only checked, save each page to a new file name.

Then try and open and re save each new page this may then show you what part of the doc has the corruption.

    Fingers crossed…………been there 😕

Thanks for the help lads, I have got Corel into a working state….but the temp folder seems to be the problem….it fills up and then starts the A.R.M.
Fills up in the space of an hour? 👿 Any idears?

If ever I get a problem file an F8 start usually sorts it. I find the problem is invariably a bitmap or an object way outside the page ares (although in theory it should make no difference)

    cheers Alan,
Finally solved it(I hope) by going into the registry and changing a value from 1 to 0…..no sign of the strong ARM of Corel since. fingers crossed 😀

I’d be interested in to what registry value you changed?
