World War II font ??
Good morning. We’ve been asked to produce a memorial plaque for a soilder who was killed in World War II. Apparently they used to have a plaque, but over time it has gone missing. The client has asked me to use a font to look as if it could have been produced at the end of the war.
Now I was thinking Times Roman as to most this will look ‘old-fashioned’, but was wondering whether anyone on here had any knowledge of this sort of thing and could suggest a font I could use ??

I used this recently on a memorial, much nicer than Times imo

Trajan would be better than Times.
Or you could do worse than to take a lead from the font that the Commonwealth War Graves Commission use on their headstones.

Cheers for the suggestions. I like the look of Trajan so may just give that one a go.
My first suggestion used a font very similar to that one on those headstones, but the customer would like an alternative. Fingers crossed he likes one of the two suggestions now. 😉

I agree that Trajan would be a classic looking choice, also LHF Essendine.

I did try Trajan and although a nice font I wanted lower case text too.
Opted for Perpetua in the end. Just waiting for confirmation now …….Cheers for everyones suggestions. This forum is great !! 😀
