I’ve got a Roland SC 500 with an encoder error, after replacing the linear scale and linear board it still has the same error. The engineer has said that the carriage board or main board are the next likely problems. The cost for new parts is unreal, does anyone out there know of anywhere i can look for second hand parts or is anyone out there currently breaking an SC 500 for spares?

    🙁 🙁 🙁 Please help 🙁 🙁 🙁

What is the error message you are getting ?

If the machine settings have been messed up you may need to initialise the limit.

Also did you go into service mode and set up the encoder ? When you run this routine it will show you the distance travelled as it moves. If it is showing this then I would not suspect the long ribbon cables.

I have had a look at the cables but can’t see any problems plus the engineer claims he had a good look over.

I have been into service mode to do the linear encoder test, it just comes back as ‘test end’ with ‘error’, there aren’t any set up options.
