Printer good investment ?
Hello
I am in the process off applying for some grant funding for some new equipment. At the moment i am outsourcing any digital print work as we do not have a printer. At the moment we do not do much work involving digital printing mainly because i do not push it, cut vinyl makes up the bulk of our work.
I am looking for any advice you can give me as to the financial benefits of purchasing a printer as i realise it is a major investment.
Also any reconmendations regarding which printer to go for would be greatly appreciated i have a budget of around 10k.

depending on the size you need then 10k is a decent budget for a 1st printer, i have a uniform grenadier 54 and cant fault it at all, i paid 7k for a second user model, im sure someone else will tell you of other reliable machines, mine hasnt stopped since the day i got it, craig

Get one……before long you’ll be doing more print work than vinyl. It opens so many new avenues for you.
Have a look at purchasing a laminator with the printer.

Best money I have spent 2 years down the line ! used every day, when I first made the purchase I had no work for this, other than the odd print job here and there, open loads of doors.

The funding is between 40 and 50% of the total cost, funding is through the rural development programme for england. I think it does depend on where in the country you are.
I am still in the early stages of the process but i have had really positive feedback from them and have been informed that what i would like to purchase meets there criteria. However i know that there maybe quite a few more hoops to jump through having have some sucessful grant applications before.
Thanks for the advice Pryam, i have a laminator which i bought about 3 months ago but it is a cheap chinese one i got for flood coating boards so i may look at upgrading at the same time.

I would agree on the Laminator, I would always suggest in investing a laminator with big rollers and as much control as possible as successful lamination. The last thing you need is a machine that creases up your hard work and print time.Stew

I do more printing than cutting in fact I want to get a bigger machine

Postcard printing can be quite expensive especially if you want to create full color postcard with photos or images. But the smart way to cut down on postcard printing cost is by investing on a postcard printer.
