  • Price it guide…thoughts and advice on using please?

    Hiya all,

Big thanks to Darren for sending me the PDF version of this guide 😀
I was impressed by it’s simplicity, I had a feeling it may involve complicated routes to price things, but oh no, rather impressive! Anyway, that aside, I’m now left pondering a few points on how to use it. Advice from those who already do would be appreciated.

I understand the basic, intermediate etc I can see the separate prices for design, travel, fitting etc So…

Say with a basic van design, does the price for that get added to the hourly fitting rate, design, travel etc?

How do you work out how much extra to add for special vinyls?

Does ‘full colour’ mean wraps? If not, how do you price wraps from the guide?

We were looking to use aluminium sheet for signs… Looking at the guide is one of the other priced materials better used with the aluminium framing?

What are peoples general views on the guide? I think it’s an excellent idea and should really promote structure in the industry by levelling things out. We were thinking to make it clear to our clients thats how our prices are formed- a sort of industry guide standard. Does anyone else do this?

    Another long winded post from me… 😳 :lol1: 🙄

    Hi Emma………………….

Looks likes its just you and me…………………

Since I got the price guide…………….(And by the way it was sent to me by a very kind gent on this forum) my Roland VP540 has not stopped running.

Most of the work has been vinyl banners in excess of 15 metres long, some stickers, garment transfers.

I found the guide very interesting but like you, I found myself asking the same questions that you have just done………….

Wow………….I am so glad that you got here before me cos it makes me look so flippin great now…!!

    Hey Darren,

Yeah, it is just us I guess! Lots of people have read though, just no comments to make. There must be somebody out there who uses it!? Really glad to hear that it’s made such a difference to you 🙂 Maybe we can muddle through and answer the questions between us. At least I know it’s not just me who was wondering lol 😀

I always check after I’ve worked out a price in my head and most of the time its about the same. I find it very useful.
The van designs are finished job no extra for fitting. Special materials or colours are just a bit of hit and miss. Just work out the job as usual then see how much extra the special colours cost and factor that in plus some profit. Its good but remember its only a guide you still need some basic business sense.

I’ve heard of this guide, but where do you get it? as pricing can be such a minefield I am sure it would be very useful.
