  • Service/maintenance contract for Roland Machines

Posted by Martin Armitage on 1 September 2009 at 19:43

I have just taken out a maintenance / service contract with a new company Vistech Technical Services, after my previous contract with another company came to an end and the price went up substantially.
They are doing a cracking deal – but mainly for Roland machines. The Pre service inspection was 20% of the price that I was quoted by a larger companies, the new contract was also alot cheaper. They also went completely over my vp300 and gave it a complete health check. The time that they spent on my machine did not seem to be an issue, to check it over and get it set up correctly seemed to be the most important thing.
Both the guys that came down were ex Roland employees/engineers, and I am sure that alot of you will know Brian Peckham who was one of them.

I think the issue of maintenance contracts raises its head very regularly so just wanted to share

Service contracts are fine, but you do need to consider the fine print,
not just the initial service you get.
What is covered and what is not, how quickly will they attend a breakdown? will they use original parts or patern, new or recon?

Does the company have local engineers or do they have to travel miles to fix a fault?
Sorry for being a bit critical Martin, but the proof of the pudding will be when you need new print heads for an important job that is due out tomorrow, not saying that Vistech Technical Services, are good or bad, just that to be reliable and able to finance major repairs, they would need a to be underwritten by a good insurance company, that is how most maintenance firms operate. it is very easy to quote low prices for contracts, but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for

I know what you are saying, but I did look into this and didnt go into it blinkerered by price alone and was happy with what I was told. I have gained the same cover I had previously.
The questions that you raise are obviously those that people need to ask of any maintenance contract and not really my place to answer, Just wanted to let people know there was an alternative out there.

we have our VP300 serviced by Brian and his merry men took them nearly five weeks and a huge bill to rectify our machines problem.
Never seen so many printed cct boards changed or any engineer without any spare parts. So if you can live without your machine for a month then you know who to go to. Engineers where very polite and apologetic but didn’t seem bothered this was our livelihood
    best of luck.

i do not know any independent technicians in Ireland but its maybe an idea to call this company as they maybe able to help you directly, if not at least point you in the right direction. http://www.tech8.eu/
