Looks interesting as printing metallics can be useful, although of course it can be done with screen printing easily enough for larger orders.

Will have to wait and see what price the printer is going to be to see if it is worth buying for the amount of work it would do.

wasn’t long ago when I read about metallic inks for inkjet printers and it looks like Roland are first to offer it to consumer. Well done, now as in screen ink, the metalics are a crushed powder so made me wonder if it was refined far enough to squirt through an ink jet nozzle.

Roland, I know u visit the boards, some clarification please

I’m sure all will be revealed at Signireland.
I know a few board members have been invited by Roland to have a closer look, I am a bit suprised they have leaked the secret though, maybe to get the shows attendance up?

I got the email as well, but its not very specific.

like what price is the printer, how much are the inks, how durable and all that stuff.

like I said possibly a taster to increase the footfall to signireland

    Well its an XC540.

I have an XC540 with white and it costs the same as a normal XC540.

Just the white ink costs more.

I think it will be comparable with white ink printing which isn’t cheap to maintain if you don’t have the work. It isn’t one of those things either where you can leave it sit there without any maintenance. I do maintenance daily on my printer and every 2 weeks it takes me about 20 minutes to complete.

We are ramping up to run it daily though. So that’s good.

If its at the same speed as white ink then its pretty slow as well.
