Hi everyone, I have been asked by a friend to sublimate 22 ties for a wedding, now i have until December to get these done, so plenty of time. My dad has said he will chip in and buy anything i need that I can’t afford but i want to do this myself as I caused him so much aggro over the mug fiasco

now as my relative short career sublimating begins and ends with mugs and plates, what equipment would i need to have for tie printing. as i said it’s for a wedding and they want pink ties but having checked around i am unsure i can get pink, they want the name of the bride and groom, easy enough, a picture of them, again pretty easy and the date.

any idea’s or input would be much appreciate, am looking to buy a T-Shirt Press as i think this is the way you do them.

Yes you will need a flat press to do them, I’ve only ever seen white or silver ties though.

White and grey ties are available for sublimation printing. Pink polyester ones may be available from other clothing companies, but be careful about printing into a colour. As you cannot print white then everything that is white is your picture will be the colour of the tie – hence the reason why white is the most popular base colour. Some white sublimation ties look quite good as they have a diagonal stitching effect in the material which looks quite posh compared to others which are simply a plain white surface.

Any flat bed press will do the ties, but if you have a plate press then you could use this so long as the image to be printed isn’t larger than your largest circular heat press element for the plates.
