VP-540 v.3.00 – Problems printing a black gradient!
Not sure if anyone else has had problems after updating the printer firmware to 3.00 but a big problem we’ve been getting is printing blacks. It’s like the printer is putting down too much ink when printing solids as it has got a liney texture to it (preserve primary colours ticked).
Or…
When printing gradients, we’re finding no matter what setting we use (apart from RIPC MD5-high quality), we will get banding of some kind along the print. We’ve tried different profiles, feed speed, materials, temp, rolling some slack off the back and nothing remedies this.Has anyone else had the same problems? if so, how did you get around this as it’s driving us nuts! Every other colour prints fine.

I take it you have already done a print head check to make sure the black head isn’t partially blocked?

The black has heavier pigments. Try adding some cyan to your black to make it flow better.

Yes, we already carried out a nozzle check/alignment and no good. Adding the cyan didn’t cure the problem as it still isn’t 100% black which we were trying to achieve. However, it did produce a black we were able to use for the job. So many thanks for the advice.
Meanwhile, back to the drawing board! -
Create a special colour swatch and override it in versaworks instead of doing it in your graphics program. Your profile in versaworks could be altering the colour.
