lighting for my unit
what lighting would be good for my unit?
the unit dose not get much sunlight as we are based in a quarry, for most of the day we are shaded.
what iam looking for is some lights that will make the unit real bright.
i will probably need 4
at the minute iam running strip lights that are not really up to the job.

I would stick with the strip lights, maybe double them up and then fit daylight tubes in.
Halogens seem brighter but throw out an unnatural, although bright, light, you won’t see the true colours with normal halogens.
I believe you can get halogens closer to the daylight spectrum (6000+) but don’t know where from.Ian :lol1:

Oh, I am assuming you have small/medium workshop …. there are other industrial light fittings that work for larger areas….

Daylight fluorescents.
Decide how many you think you need, then double the number.
Wire them in two circuits so that, when you don’t need bright light, you only need to run half of them and save on electricity.
Colour problems apart, halogens make my eyes hurt, 🙁

As John has just said, double up the circuits, in one of my rooms (no window), only 5 meter x 4 meter I have put 4 x 4ft single daylights on two circuits, walls and ceiling white….. plenty bright enough after 10 mins warming up (bright enough initially as well), still plenty light with only two running for most things.

Like Ive said before, look up your local CEF and ask them to do a survey, its free, and they will tell you exactly what you need……………..

My sister installed something similar in her kitchen which also suffered from a lack of natural daylight. -

I have 8 windows in the roof all ready 😕
as we are in a quarry it just seems to be a bit dull in here when its no the brightest of days.i was thinking of putting 6 twin 6ft strip lights in. at the minute i have 6 single and 3 running across the walls.
