HI Cairan,
sign making but not using vinyl?not sure as i have a proper sign making kit, just lots of tools from previous jobs that i use, for instance, most commonly used tools i own…
18v cordless drivers and hammer drills,
metabo sds drill 240v
hitachi hammer drill 240v,
selection of hss, masonry and sds bits,
dewalt heat gun,
electric planer,
grinders,
hand saws, jigsaws, etc.
extension leads (15m + 50m)
rivet gun, rivets, hundreds of boxes of nuts, bolts, screws and specialist fixings, planes, chisels, screwdrivers, crowbar / jemmy, hammers, sandpapers, files, lots and lots of different knives, electronic multimeter, socket set, spirit levels, cutters, grips, spanners etc
spare fuses, cable and other basic electrical bits found in light boxes,
ladders… 2x 4.8m multi position fold up type. 1x 6m extension ladder, 18" tall x 3ft long step, 5 tread step ladder, 12 tread step ladder, draper tressles and scaffold boards,
probably more i take with me than i realise, especially when doing maintenance on signs i didn’t install as you never know what you’ll need.
then there’s all the vinyl associated stuff!
what i dont have i normally find out about when on the job and buy it locally there and then, often cheaper than going home!
one thing i will say, no matter how tight things may or may not be, do not be tempted to buy the cheap DIY power tools and drill bit sets, go to a proper tool shop, buy high quality drill bits, usually sold individually, which will far outlast any cheap kit, you can also buy several of what you do need instead of lots you don’t need. decent tools will last many years, cheap ones won’t if used daily.

Hi Cairan,
the link is showing Rob’s fitting box, most of it i would say is geared towards vinyl fitting.
so long as you have a good range of tools you’ll get by!

When I first started out and had no clue my UKSB membership was my most valuable tool. Having the right tools and knowing how to use them make any job better. You’ll learn a lot from the boards and it pays for itself rather quickly in mistakes you won’t make.

I will dig out the list i gave my insurers 2 years ago when my unit was visited 10 years to gather 10 mins to rob 😥
