a little advice needed
Posted by Brian Little on 22 June 2009 at 15:43Hi folks im at present doing signs for a company that sells oil sead. the signs are 4ftx2ft not that big i know but me and my big mouth suggested …"Hey why dont you have a digital print of your oil bottle on the sign but have it sitting with the neck of the bottle slightly above the sign" Great idea the customer thought .hmmmm i thought i could easily cut two bits of five mill foamx the shape of the bottle and stick it on the dibond …..but is there a better way ideally it would be good if i could cut it out of dibond but its hard enough to cut that in a straight line …suggestions welcome
ps the signs will be back to back
regards Brian

Ark at the kettle calling the pot! 😀 😀 😀

"Ark at the kettle"?, "Ark at the kettle"?
..what does that mean?
Now if you’d said "Hark at the Kettle" that would’ve made sense…but "Ark at the Kettle" ? 😕
(Just teasing by the way 😉 )

could you put the bottle in the middle of the panel so that both sides of the panel will be the same as it will be isometrical? Then get the panel cut out by CNC which can cut any shape neatly.
Give Fabricut a call as they can do this for you.
cheers

Di-bond is pretty easy to cut in different shapes, just give it a try or you could always speak nicely to someone and get them to do it for you :lol1:

i would go with what Warren suggested.
you can cut dibound easily with a jig saw but if you are doing lots of them be bit time consuming. -
Send a silhouette of the sign shape (including the bottle) in .eps format off to a flat cut lettering supplier and ask them to quote a price to supply the signblank made from composite (e.g dibond). Alternatively, send the same to Ashby who could do this as a powder coated aluminium signblank.

Brian, just get the print done, mount it on foamex or dibond and cut round it with a jigsaw. (apply app tape first so you don’t scratch it)
