Roland Warranty – How many people have it
Posted by Unknown Member on 12 June 2009 at 10:18Morning guys….
Just a quick one….Our warranty on our Roland XC540 has now expired and we have been sent letters about renewing it. Prices start from 2,000 to 3,000 a year….
Has anyone bothered renewing there one and is it worth doing

There is other company’s out there that will cover it for less but really depends what level of cover your looking for

Try Axis Warranty Services Ltd they do a really good deal on insuring all types of Digital print machines. I was quoted about £85-00 per month for my Roland Tel: 01732 770448

I have Roland cover Silver I think

I have the bronze cover ( obviously not quite as ‘special’ as Rich ! )
I get a yearly service call where they check the printer and replace any bits that need doing.
Haven’t needed to call them out since the machine was initially installed, but its like all insurance – nice to know its there for the peace of mind just in case you need it.

We’re signing up for the Silver one as we have 2 x Pro IIIs and its well worth it, even if nothing goes wrong with the printer in the year you still get the full service worth around €1200. Once the Pro’s are a year old we have found that the heads need replacing halfway through the second year and its €850 a head plus call-out, a small board can go or the track for the heads which can easily get damaged if you are printing Contra or just a heavy user and these all cost a few hundred quid plus cal out. To us its defo worth having, plus you get to the top of the list for call outs which is handy if you depend on the machine then you need the guys probably 2 hours before you called them. 🙂

In the UK the guarantee period is for 5 years from date of purchase.
Obviously this can´t apply to stuff such as food and clothing etc.
But electrical/electronic goods, very definitely!
If you sign any guarantee, you might be signing away your consumer rights.Currys, Dixons etc. make good profits selling extended warranties. Presumably Roland and the all the others do the same. At worst it´s a scam that relies on the consumer being ignorant of the law.
In EU legislation, the guarantee period for all member countries is 2 years. Individual countries, like the UK have their own laws.
Last year I bought an all-in-one Epson printer and a Panasonic TV from the same supplier (a national chain). Both came with one years guarantee. When I argued that these had a minimum of 2 years under EU law, they eventually conceded and gave me a written 2 year guarantee rather than lose the business.

We had an extra 12 months cover and was very pleased with the service that Roland gave us . However I thought £2k was too much to spend on a machine that is now worth approx 6k. The machine has been very reliable and even if I needed to call out an engineer I very much doubt it would cost near £2K..
only my opinion though
