Copying colours in Signlab
I have a print and cut job to do which I am doing in Signlab 7.1.
I was sent an eps by a client featuring their logo. Signlab is the only software I have that is opening the file without corrupting the colours.
My client has asked me to add in some additional text in the same colour as the logo color – so I have decided to print and cut the logo and the lettering.
My problem is getting the lettering the same colour as the logo. In Corel I use the eyedropper tool to sample a colour and color another object the same. Is there a similar system in Signlab?
I have tried editing the colour entering the same cmyk values as the logo color – but when printing it, the colours look slightly different to each other.
Any ideas?

Phil, try this brilliant little FREE tool. There’s hardly a week goes by when I don’t use it.
You can match ANY colour displayed on screen exactly.
For instance, a customer gives you artwork and you import it in to Signlab. You hover over the colour, press the spacebar and it locks the colour information in the small program window.
It gives you the hex, RGB, HSB and CMYK figures.
You then create a new colour tab in Signlab by typing in the numbers.
It doesn’t install anything – just opens and works.

I have been able to determine the CMYK value of the colour I am trying to replicate – but when I type these values in to edit the colour of the text they print a slightly different shade. Close – but not the same.
In corel I can use the eyedropper tool to sample a colour – then use the busket tool to paint any other object the same colour. But I can’t seem to find a way of ensuring the same colour is transferred to the new object in Signlab.
I’m probably overlooking something obvious – but can’t see what I am doing wrong at the moment. I don’t use Signlab often enough to get it to do all the things I want it to do – I think it’s a case of spending a bit of time to learn to use it properly

For things like this I usually export from Signlab as an ai and roopen in corel, alter then copy – paste back into signlab. I don’t print from signlab though as I use corel to export as eps and use wasatch softrip.

Is their logo a vector or bitmap Phill? Assume it’s a bitmap otherwise surely you could click the colour that will have been added to your colour pallette when you imported it.

If it’s a bitmap, double click on it and a new set of tools will become available at the top of the page, one of which is an eye dropper. -

Its a vector and I found the logo colour in the pallete as Brian said :doh:
Just clicked on that and Bob’s yur Uncle.
I knew it was something simple.

Have you got your job pallette turned on?
its easier to find the colour from there, you can turn them off and on so easy to find any colour in the jobPeter

I have now Peter (didn’t know about it before) – Yes it’s much easier to find a colour when the job pallette is showing. Good tip 😀

if you press ctr before clicking the colour, it will turn that colour off
double click to select all objects of that colour alt click to turn all the colours off exept the chosen one, very handy toolPeter
