  • Cardboard rolls for packing banners

    Evening all,

We use our cardboard cores (from vinyl rolls) to package our pvc banners for dispatch. We’ve run out of all our cores and short of dumping 20m of vinyl in the bin to get the core I need to find some other way round it.

Does anyone know where these can be picked up cheap (second hand even) as to buy them new was looking at around £1.50 a core. Have asked at europoint and they dont have any extra as they have to save them for when clients take split rolls – I’d guess its the same with the majority of suppliers.

A guy who makes bouncy castles had 100 for sale on ebay but I missed the boat and someone else snapped them up.

Or is there a better way to pack them?

    Cheers
    Andy

I’d just worry about them in transit. We do have some boxes made for them but do you think it would be sufficient in just a box with no "rigid-ness" in the centre?

Cant see why not, and you will save on postage with less weight?
    other opinions?

Visit your local fabric shop, they should let you have some for free, we used to give away as many as possible, to keep rubbish collections down.

Carpet Right etc. They can’t get rid of their cores quick enough.

I’ve got millions of them – I chuck em out with the cardboard collection every week. You can have them for £1.49 each + Vat and delivery 😛

I get my banners delivered to me like this
Wrapped in a heavy type of clear plastic
    No damage experienced yet

The weight isnt a consideration really, all our banners are sent with FedEx and our account means we can send up to 25kg for one price.

I’ll speak to a couple of local carpet retailers and see where I end up.

    Best wishes

Have you considered just using the boxes the rolls of vinyl come in instead. We have had no issues doing it this way.

    Cheers
