    Hi all,

I am trying to print on canvas material but the quality is coming out bad. I am assuming it is because of my profile settings. if this is the case how do i install profiles on versaworks and what else could i be doing that is causing the bad outcome?? assuming the nature of the canvas i assume the bad quality is due to the way the ink absorbs the material or something??

    please help!!

thanks to all who have replied to my posts and thanks in advance for this one.

    Hi,

We do a hell of alot of canvas printing…..Infact last year we did around 40,000Sqft of the stuff and not on of these was done on our Roland XC540….

We had the same problems as you, tried around 12 different types of canvas all with poor dull results. I did think its done to the way material is soaked up.

We use a canon 12 colour machine for all canvas work and its fantastic

Sorry I cant help any further.

I use a Uniform Grenadier to print onto canvas, get great results. All canvas I’ve printed have been vibrant and true to the original image supplied. I use Metamarks artist canvas and use their profile from their website. All I did to install the profile was to copy it into the folder where all the profile files are kept.

I don’t use any heat when printing, as I want the ink to go into the weave, and not to dry to quick.

    Hope this helps a little.

    From Mark

That’s interesting Mark, we use Metamarks paper for our Rolands with the heat on full with very good results, had reasonable results with canvas, will try theirs and knock the heat off. Thanks for the advice

What canvas are you printing on?

What profile and settings are you using?

On canvas you want color accuracy so don’t use MAX Density or Sign and Display. Use Prepress US.

Solvent printers don’t print as well as a waterbased printers, but I get reasonable results anyway.

Try and find a canvas with a high white point, like Picasso.

    I print 16 pass too.
