Nah, a lot less than that because your suppliers won’t honour anything. They’ll find a way to wriggle out.

    What a cynical bunch !! 😀

    3M Warranty for 980/9900 series is 7 years any width 25mm – 300mm and 983 series 8 year warranty width 55mm (ECE104)

William Smith have been dealing with 3M since the 1950s (I wasn’t with the company then !) when they first introduced Scotchlite Reflective sheeting for Traffic Signs. In the last 60 years (24 years for me) we have experienced very few failures with any 3M product and 3M have more experience of producing reflective vinyls than any other manufacturer. On the rare occasion we have experienced a problem 3M will thouroughly investigate the reason for failure initially through the 3M Technical Department in the UK and further investigation can aided by the Eurolab in Neuss or ultimately 3M US in St Paul. 3M have more technical resource available than any other film manufacturer because 3M take Technical Issues seriously rather than have sales people hide or wriggle out of responsibilty.

Just make sure you do purchase genuine 980/9900/983 series tape as these are all ultrasonically edge sealed and approved by 3M – 3M Diamond Grade slit down is not enough as you will experience cell break down (and potential delamination) without the approved edge seal. If the conversion is for Battenburg shapes these are also warranted but only if cut and ultrasonically edge sealed on the 3M Assured Edge Seal system only available using Zund Flatbed and specialist 3M ultrasonic horn.

    Hope this helps

    Stuart
