I have given my self a problem & wondered if anybody could be of assistance. The question is in 2 parts first of all i need to know if mirror film & solar film are different things. the 2nd part is does anybody know of a place near Gloucester that sells it. I did not get home from site till late Friday & i am back to Gloucester early Monday so cannot use my usual suppliers. I would be most grateful for any help thanks Brian

Brian, I’m not too sure of what I’m talking about here, but nobody more knowledgeable has answered, so, for what it’s worth………

I think there’s a bit of overlap with the products.

Mirror film is what it says on the tin – a mirror like effect. Of course, by reflecting light, it does have the effect of reducing sunlight, so has some of the effect of solar film.

Solar film reduces sunlight passing through it, but does not have to be mirror finish. It comes in various grades, cutting out increasing percentages of light.

I’m racking my brains trying to think of where we used to get it so you can look at their website and get an idea of what is available. If I remember the name I’ll post up later.

Yes, well, you were always going to struggle with that. I don’t know of any supplier open on a Saturday.

Unless they are small windows and you can get away with cheap cr@p from the likes of Halfords. 🙁

Hi Brian, John is correct in saying mirror film and solar film could be an overlap of products. If fitting mirror or reflective solar make sure the windows are not laminated but just toughened glass, If laminated the film has to go on the outside, toughened inside
