Still new to all this, what it is, is i got some vehicle outlines CD of ebay, think it was called pro Vehicle outlines 2008, and i have design what i want cutting in Adobe illustrator as its only a small part of the car (need the bit around the number plate of a car) now whats the best way of exporting this to Flexi sign software making sure it will be the EXACT size i need for that car? If this wont work whats the best way of getting exact sizes etc?

    Thanks

    Simon
firstly vehicle outlines are not 100% accurate so if you are thing of cutting a panel & then have it fit accurately on the car then it probably won’t. What version of Flexi are you using

Most oulines are not accurate enough to use as templates,
The disc should have come with instruction as how to import to illy, and telling what scale the outlines are.
There are not many genuine discs for sale on fleabay, I hope you didnt get conned!

Most outlines are set to scale, you could import the outline into flexi sign and measure it and then you would have an idea of wether it is set to scale or full size, but if you have no instructions then you will have no idea of what the scale is. Just one question, if you are only just starting off and deciding wether to continue full time then how come you have the full version of Flexi Sign 8.5 pro, also this software should have come with a manual or some kind of instruction booklet on how to use it.

Hi Jayne, i have no idea on how i would import it and measure it and know the scale unfortinatly? I bought a PC with a cutter and the PC came with Flexi Sign Pro on it.

You need to open up a new file in Flexi sign, and select the import function in the drop down menu from File and then import the illustrator file from where you saved it i.e. the desktop or whatever folder you saved it in. You need to have the ai filter selected in the import menu and then the file should appear as a box that you can place in the flexi workspace. click the left button on your mouse and it should appear.
Maybe you need to start finding your way around Flexi first before tackling any jobs. You could invest in a vehicle outline cd from Impact as it will come with instructions and all outlines are set at scale, otherwise you need to manually measure the area of the vehicle that you are designing for,
Sorry there is no simple way to do this 😕

You seemed to have got a bargain there 😕

The list price of FlexiSIGN PRO 8.5 – PC Our Price: £3,195.00 (+ VAT)

If the software was legit, as Jayne said, you would have a manual and training resources etc. That is the way to learn it. No short cuts.

You could pop into your local sign shop and they could do it for you. Sorry if that sounds rude, but the guys on here that you are asking for help from have spent thousands of pounds on software and equipment and have years of experience. I know we all have the opportunity of a change of career, but do it on the level.
So far, the software developers and the outlines disc people have taken a hit.

Tomorrow Matthew I am going to be a Plumber.
