    Hi,

I need to make a hanging sign 1175mm wide x 1075mm high to replace an existing pub sign, that seems to be made of a coated thin steel plate, with a decorative wood architrave aroung the perimeter.

The new sign needs to be ivory in colour and customer still wants a decorative black trim around it.

I originally thought about a GRP sign, but no one manufactures one to this size. I have also spoken to JAG about making up one, but they recommended it to be smaller as it would blow in the wind too much.

My idea is to use 2 pieces of dibond, riveted either side of and aluminium box section frame of some sort, and then stick JAG stock frame around the perimeter of each side. Eye hooks could be bolted through the aluminium box section.

I’ve also been quoted for a back to back tray, which I could apply a frame to, but I think this may work out expensive.

    Anyone got any other ideas?

    Thanks 😀

Sounds good to me, as long as the box section frame is made well and you perhaps reinforce it with a steel plate where the eye bolts go through why not load the bottom box section with some weight like a lump of lead to counteract some of the winds force.

Make sure you use decent eye bolts that go right through your fixing not just screw in.

    Just a thought.

    Tim.

I had a similar job for a restaurant.
    The sign was 1330 x 860.
I used Marquis frame from Kings Plastics.
It forms a double sided sign with 2 sheets of 3mm ally comp with a middle sandwich of 3mm foam pvc.
They can supply it fully made up or in component form ready for assembly and your own panels.
They will fit the hangers exactly where you need them.
Absolutely brilliant product for the job.

I’ve posted an image in the members portfolio.
