For myself, my answer is still the same as before, busier than ever, phone ringing & people walking in every day, not just for enquiries but genuine orders, long may it continue.

Business is up but getting payment a lot tougher!

In the last poll I was down – in this poll I am up, so In my particular circumstances there has been a big improvement. The last poll was a 50:50 split which surprised me (I expected more to be down) – It will be interesting to see how this poll pans out.

Last financial year was my worst since I started trading 6 years ago. Strangely though, the last month of my financial year (March) was my best ever. Steady start to new year – hope it continues. 😀

UP… and UP… we are very busy. Payment isnt rushing in, but its coming in… only one bad debt from the start of the credit crunch and that may still get paid. (touch wood) 😀

nice to see but i think it really needs splitting between company’s that are established (5 years trading) and newer setups.

Methinks people are trying to get noticed a bit more during this "downturn" so it’s a case of either an updating sign, vehicle livery and even the odd banner. Have had a couple of people who have been made redundant and are using their payout to set up on their own, so shop front, and delivery van jobby.

Just done last months figures and March was best month ever, only by about 5% but still good.
Every month this financial year is up on corresponding month last year.
Lets just hope it continues.

I said down although profit is about the same, I did quiet a large monthly order last year with small profit margin (I was just a middle man) so although turnover is down profits are about the same so far. I have just gone Vat registered though so still trying to get my head around all these spreadsheets :lol1:
Business is looking like it will improve though so holding thumbs for that.

Turnover is down, but I’ve not put that in the poll because we are probably not representative of any general business trend and I wouldn’t want to distort the figures.
The reason for our lower turnover is that this time last year we were in the middle of quite a large one-off job, which had no chance of repeating, so I didn’t expect to reach last year’s figure.
Having said that, it does seem a bit quiet at the moment. We have work to do every day, but there isn’t the normal backlog.

Cant see people rushing in for jobs when you get back Scott 😕
As for turnover, after a bad year last year I have to say I’m up but still not great.
Historically March and April are my best months but hasn’t been the case the last couple of years.
Great start to the year but has dwindled but still optimistic 😕

Although I have voted that I am down over the last 3 months, it is not by much. I had a shit Feb and March but April I managed to double my monthly turnover. This month to date I am fully booked for two weeks, which keeps on getting bigger. People are seeing the need to advertise which is great for people like us. In the normal days I used to be booked up for 3 weeks so I am sure things are getting better.

Ok not scientific, but the same number have voted as in the first poll
and the trend looks good for the majority, lets hope it keeps up.
