wide format sublimation printers.
Posted by Steve Bird11 on 2 May 2009 at 22:04Hi all, Do any of you guys use dedicated wide format subli printers that you could recommend to produce custom made/designed football shirts and speedway shirts?? I remember seeing one at a roland show in Bristol a couple of years ago but cant think for the life of me who made it or what it was called…need one that would be capable of producing about 25000 shirts a year. All of our custom made stuff at the mo comes from prostar but dont think they’d tell me the info i need!!!
Cheers.

can’t imagine a normal large format doing 500 shirts a week. is that print the whole shirt then cut it out, and put together. ?
i have seen sub printers that have a heat system immediately after the print.
must be bigger still.
see what the flag boys are using.chris

Cheers Chris!
500 shirts means 1000 prints with front and back printed!!! 😮 ..The one we saw was well over a 100k and yes was heated as soon as fabric came out of printer. Will also need a couple of poles to sew them all together lol.
ok next question then…any flag guys in here??Oh and btw…all cut out by hand!!! 😮 😮 😮

i like the way the factory cuts them.
its a pile about 150- 200 mm thick cut by what looks like a jig saw.from my experience flag type material can be printed about 3 times quicker than a good quality vinyl print.

Yeh the one i saw definitely printed a lot quicker than our trusty old versacamms. They were printing some sort of promotional tea towels which took seconds to print, god knows how many print heads it had! Wont be able to afford the jigsaw cutter thingy for a while if we buy a printer tho…and the shirts need to be stacked up nice and neat for that to work properly, also the big manufacturers dont care about waste where as we’ll be rotating things to get the most out of the material!. Got a feeling a visit to China might be on the cards then!!

i was actually going to post a similar topic lol
so direct print to garment is out of the question, there was a double t-shirt printer at signuk if u saw it

I know,…i dont really want to go down that route as i can imagine what the tech support and getting inks would be like!!

ok, well i have seen the Gandinnovation Aqua Jet
http://www.gandinnovations.com/3324a_printer.aspit is quite unique printer and also has slitters etc. its serious demanding printer with good results. You would need serious money for one of these… maybe in the region of £150-200K as the dollar to the pound weakend sadly
i was taken to canada and shown the gandi products, excellent time it was.

Nice one Dave…I’m sure that was the one i saw in Bristol,….24 print heads??? 😮 😮 ,…no wonder it was so damn quick! it was 125k i think when i saw it, gone up a fair bit then! 😥 Im sure it needs to be kept running tho as even the guy on the stand said the inks dry up quick if left idle! 60 sqr mtrs an hour tho, impressive!!!

really, there is one in Bristol?
Actually the Gandi kit very impressive, just they struggle a bit to get presence here in UK but they sell well over it US and Canada. -
Steve, you could try I-sub. They specialise in large format sublimation printers, and are very professional and knowledgeable people.
I think their web addy is i-sub.co.uk, but not sure.
