yellow being printed as orange!! any ideas why??
Evening all, just printed some logos using versacamm540 and noticed that cmyk yellow has printed as a dark orange,..I’ve checked all the profiles in x3 and versaworks and are all correct so i printed a test print on the versacamm….the black, magenta and cyan were all perfect but the yellow was dark orange…has the ink gone past it’s shelf life or been contaminated somehow?? the ink cartridge is no more than a month old and and still over half full! Just after any other poss causes before i flush it all out!.

Guess at the magenta has siphoned back up the line mixing with the yellow.
Has the machine been idle for a while / running a head soak / blocked capping station?
Not a major disaster – run a powerful clean or suck the ink through the pump line with a syringe until it’s yellow again.
If it’s somehow siphoned all the way back to the cartridge…oops.

sounds like the Magenta has siphoned up the yellow head, this can happen when cartridge is more empty than the other. A power clean should cure the problem temporarily but you will probably need a new yellow cartridge.Kev

Thanks fellas, yes printer was idle for a week so hopefully good clean and a new cartridge should sort it out!…strange thing is tho is if print a jpg then it dosent seem to bad!! cheers for the info anyhows!! 😀

ooops,…just did the power clean and prints were perfect!….until i noticed magenta ink dripping from under the machine by the drain bottle!! cant get in there to see where it’s coming from so im guessing it’s more than a new yellow cartridge to sort out!!! 👿
