I have been asked by a friend to have a look at this machine, he has owned it for about 6 months but unfortunately the guy who was running this decided to leave a week ago, the machine has not been used for at least 5 days, I know nothing about Mutoh’s being purely a Roland man. I have switched the machine on and printed the palette but there seem to be lines etc in some of the colours, tried a head clean, again seems to have worked.

I am just after some tips on helping him to maintain this machine, how would I clean the heads manually etc etc???

Anything else I need to do???

Also should have mentioned the guy also took the computer with the software on, I have the Omega disks and dongle but what Rip should I be looking for??

As you can imagine it’s a bit of a mess, we’re up to our eyes so I’m hoping I can get him up and running asap.

    Any help greatly appreciated here

    Thanks

    Jason

    hi Jason

The way I do a manual head clean is
    Turn off printer

    lower left and right doors

    Lower rollers

Looking at the head through the right hand door, on the left side of the head there is a plastic catch that needs to be pushed down to allow the head to be pushed all the way across to the left.

Through the left hand door you can now clean the perimeter around the head with a swab do not touch the head its self.

With a clean swab you can clean the wiper through the right door.

Return head to original position when finished.

I cut up green scouring pads as replacements for the spitting box.

    Onyx or Flexi work well.

    Are you running mutoh inks.

    Hi Jason,

Is it a Valuejet 1204/1304 or 16xx model. Maybe this video will help

Thanks both, not sure which model valujet, he has eco-solvent inks in it, a mixture of roland and mutoh at the moment.

I’ve left the machine on now, will it self clean like the Rolands, unfortunately I can’t get down to him until Tuesday so I am hoping it’s going to be okay.

Jason, My valuejet clean itself every 4 hrs. Same as Roland. If it is using original Mutoh Ultra or Roland Eco sol max it should be fine until Tuesday, But I suggest you perform a manual head cleaning.

    Cheers

Thanks Andre, unfortunately I tried the link above but it no longer works, I’ll take my time with it and see how I get on. Can I use the same cleaning fluid as I use on the Roland? Plus same sort of process in terms of wipers and edges of the print head?

    Hi Jason
The process I explained in my last post is for the VJ 1604.

You can set the time span of the self clean from the control panel.
