Hi Adele,
draw your rectangle, right click and convert to curves,
use the shape tool, right click on the line you want to curve and in the drop down menu click ‘to curve’, bend away! click on the nodes for more accursate positioning of the line, you can select the whole image or just individual lines.
the other thing with the shape tool, before you conver to curves, drag anode on the corner of a square or rectangle and the corners all curve equally, this might work for you.

click on square – arrange – envelope – click on ‘add new’ then click on single arc (second pic) – select middle point with mouse, hold down shift key and bend outwards… hope that makes sense Adele…

Convert the shape to curves, then use the node edit tool, right click on the line, and select curve, then drag the line to the desired location.

Thanks for the help. I managed to get the corners to curve but all I want is to curve 2 lines outward.
Will have another try in a bit.
Thanks again for the info and help.

Ian is on the case. further if as you move the node you will see the distance moved in the btm of the screen. and will give you a accurate curve. over other methods.

For a smooth curve, with the node edit selected and the shape already converted to curves, right click and change the line to a curve. Still with the node edit, double click the centre of the line, and right click the node and select "symmetrical". Click once more to select and use the arrow keys (and Ctrl) to use micro nudge to move the node.

Glad you got it sorted
there are many ways to skin a cat, depends on your thought train, which works best for you.
another way, draw an oval, and an oblong, corners touching the oval
then weld. sounds complicated, but in practice, as easy as the other methods.we all use programs differently though

have found this method the quickest and easiest option though the others do work too.
Easy when you know how!!! 😀
