  • HELP! Pantone cmyk values

Hello to you all great sign makers out there.

I’m really at the end of my tether. I have to re-create this fountain fill for a customer. I just can’t get it right. Their designer has gave make the pantone ref numbers and the cmyk values that go with it. But when I print it, its so much darker than it should be.

Does anyone know the proper cmky values that closely match
    Patone 234 a pink/magenta he says its C6 M100 Y0 K26
    and
    Pantone 3145 greeny/blue he says its C100 M0 Y19 K23

Is he right or is it my profile printing wrong?

    according to my pantone book 234c is C18 M100 Y4 K18
    and the 3145c is C100 M11 Y28 K20

The green will not print as cmyk only close and will be lighter, the pink/magenta should be a good match

Hey Mark, It could be a myriad of things that would cause that. Is it a photo-realistic (bitmap) image or is a vector image? Our colors "get off" if we don’t calibrate the printer properly after each time we change a toner cartridge. There are also a few settings that one usually has to adjust on the print side to get more accurate colors. It’s a little hard to tell without knowing all the parameters you’re working with.

I’ve checked my PMS library and it looks like the CMYK values are correct for those colors.

Can you give more information about what type of image you are printing, program you are using, and printer you are using? Mac or PC?

I do have to say a lot of times when a color is critical to be more accurate we actually will adjust the CMYK values around until a test print matches the actual Pantone sample book swatch.

    Thanks

    quote M Brown:

    Patone 234 a pink/magenta he says its C6 M100 Y0 K26
    and
    Pantone 3145 greeny/blue he says its C100 M0 Y19 K23

My Pantone Color Bridge chart give them as:-

    PMS 234 = C18 M100 Y4 K18
    PMS3145 = C100 M11 Y28 K20

As printed on the chart, both are a reasonable match.
