  • Saving & opening SL files-big problem!

Posted by Lorraine Clinch on 27 March 2009 at 11:27

😮 😮 😮 All of a sudden my PC threw up an error message when trying to save a file I was working on.

    It says

    Cut Tmpl

Unrecognised database format ‘C:\Cadlink\new work signlab\wroxham barns\4 x 3 road signs.CDL (I’m not trying to open this file)

I click ‘OK’ and it opens a box ‘open’, the choice of file-type is ‘*.mdb’ or ‘all files’.

Eventually the correct file will open.

On saving other files in Signlab I get the same ‘unrecognised’ message.

I have no idea what is going on, can anyone guide me please?

Why me?????? All I want to do is get on with my work!
    😥

You may be right Phil. I’m sure it knows just when to play up/crash etc. I think there is a living brain inside it.

Signlab uses CUTTMPL.MDB to store some default signblank shapes, plus tool info if you have profilelab.
This MDB file is a microsoft access database.
It could be that it is corrupt somehow.

You could reinstall , but that would be a pain.
email me so i can reply to your email.
I can email you a fresh cuttmpl.mbd file as an attachment.
You just copy/paste it into your signlab directory and let it overwrite the exiting mdb file.

sorry, forgot , email addresses not allowed here.
can you PM me. I can reply that way.

Or maybe you can find someone you know to email you thier cuttmpl.mdb file

Hi Peter, thanks, I would appreciate it. I have (just) emailed Frank, but as he is now off-line he is probably finished now (don’t know what time it is in Canada) so it would be great if you could send it, and I’ll hopefully get sorted tonight then. Mind you, knowing my track record with computers….. 🙄 maybe not! 🙄

go to C:\ > CADLink > Signlab7 or 8 > the file is in there.

your CADLink folder may be in a different drive leter.

Hi Nick, thanks for that. I was looking but didn’t see!
I dropped the file in & overwrote the other one, but I am still getting the same messages, so problem still there.
Any more ideas anyone? Please? Rod?
