  • Waterproof posters/signs – help please?

Posted by Nigel Hindley on 24 March 2009 at 15:55

We supply posters to go in clip frames but are getting water damage problems. Can any one suggest a way of waterproofing or supplying a waterproof image.

The size is 1020 x 640 we are currently encapsulating them. This is costly and would like any suggestions or maybe someone can encapsulate them more economically than we can?

They cannot be on boards unless its about half a mm and cant be stuck to anything) any help appreciated!

Try backlit and banner materials, should work fine.

We have used Polymeric paper from Europoint which doesn’t seem to damage when wet. It’s untearable as well. Can be printed with solvent and UV inks

I use the metamark poster paper which is excellent – have put under the tap before and the water rolls off.

Not sure what it is like to long exposure to rain but one that I made about a year ago and is in a clip frame still looks fine when I go past it.

I have in the past used hydrosol from Europoint and also the roller banner media, both are water proof.

    Nigel,

    the metamark MD-PP paper comes in 760, 1370 and 1520. I get them to cut a 1520.

Have always found the metamark service really good – give them a shout – they may drop you a sample.
