  • Black vinyl for car roof.

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone had an idea what the best vinyl is to use on a car roof?

Basicaly, I need to cover the whole of the roof – I need something that will apply relatively easily because I’m not an expert (plus im a short guy, itll be a strech 😛 ).

I currently have a load of 651 in black, but I have no idea if this is suitable.

it depends on the car, curvature and size of the roof etc. but I would say 651 is not the one for the job and if your vinyl is 610 it isn’t wide enough

    Its for a corsa B

very simple shape, just a slight curve to it.

Im aware I will haveto order in the right size – But I dont really know what type of vinyl I should use for it.

as you are not an expert I would suggest a good bubble free wrap vinyl, phone around and ask who has it, I know Hexis do it. Otherwise a cast vinyl like 751c might be OK but is also quiet hard to work with if you are inexperienced so maybe opt for the 851 (I have not used the 851) and would not even try it with the 751c either as I know how hard it would be for me and I’ve done a little bit of wrapping.

In fact an even easier option would be to get a trade printer to print you some solid black wrap media with laminate as the thickness makes it easier to work with and less prone to snapping/tearing when repositioning.

    Hope that helps.

    cheers

If you struggle with getting the correct meterage, I have some black bubble free here

What vinyl do I even need to get hold of though?

There shouldn’t be any stretching involved, its just over a slight curve.

I mean… why is 651 inappropriate? I could do with some lessons here!

Michael I told you what you need in my post above.

the best lesson you can learn now is go and try it with the 651 and when that fails use one of the vinyls I suggested above.

or take advantage of Chris’s offer.

the roof will curve in 2 directions and 651 will not!

    what more can we say?

    Cheers

Could anyone give me a type of vinyl to look for? a name, or just what to actually look for would be useful.

    🙄

read my first post on 24 March above 😕 I gave you a lot of the options available, you already use Oracle 651 but that’s not suitable, order one of my suggestions above from the same supplier.

not sure how much clearer I can be 😕

    good luck (!)
