Cherwell do a really nice job on composite trays, but from experience they work out a similar price to ally from Ashby, who will powdercoat to a ral colour.

Not sure if composite can be powder coated owing to the coating already on it, and also the heat maybe have an undesirable effect.

Ah sounds like I will give them a try, re Ashby’s not sure on the join they do in the center they tend to spot weld a support and it can be seen on the face ??? also there almost to good so heavy but would be nice just to have it turn up in the correct colour , may be I can get a good vinyl match and flood the tray ???
    oh more thinking

    Richard,

We have used Blackburns (of Plymouth) in this case for fabrication of 20 composite trays recently, and all were superb.

And as they can get anything sprayed, im sure that wouldnt be a problem too.

    Cheers

It’s true to say that you can paint composite sheet but it would have to be an air drying or cellulose paint because any baking process (as would be used in stove enamelling or powder coating) could cause potential problems with the composite material itself.

My suggestion – for what it’s worth – would be to flood coat with vinyl.

Sorry, I logged my last reply before adding the comment that a paited, fabricated aluminium panel would probably work out as cost effective as trying to use composite sheet & painting it.
