  • Matt Black wrap

Posted by Christopher Jackson on 5 March 2009 at 10:57

i have had a bike come in for a wrap and i would like to take the job on for the experience as i have never wrapped before and i believe it would be a good starting point as there isn’t as many curves and lines as a car or van.

what is a good matt black vinyl to use??

    thanks.

    Avery 900 should do it.

where would i be able to get this from?

i only require around 7.5 sq/m. so could do with somewhere that could do part rolls.

    i have some 3m scotchcal 85 series.

i phoned William smiths and they said it’s new.

    has anybody tried it yet?

one of the main requirements is that with it being matte it doesn’t leave finger marks when touched.

Thats the one featured on the front page. It seems pretty good.

it will be interesting to see if you change that statement after you have tried to wrap the bike.

ps any normal polish will leave a lot of difficult to remove white wax, and in my experience will show finger marks more than gloss. and a lot harder to clean.

    will look good thou.

    Hi,

I just wrapped my Mini in the 85 series matt black, and it went pretty well overall. I think I would use the Avery 900 in the future though as I think the surface may be slightly duller and give a better finish.

Picture half done attached – I think (new to this)

It’s not easy stuff to get a good result from though.

    That’s looking good.

Ive started wrapping a civic in 900.

Doing it piece by piece and its a struggle and a half.
