    Hi every one,

I have a Rockhopper 2 that I had upgraded to a Rockhopper 3 around 2 years ago to take the new Inks (eco-solvent ultra).

We have recently noticed that we are getting banding across the face of our prints. The best way to describe it is the if you printed a soild block of colour you get 30-40mm of colour then a slightly lighter band of 10mm colour. This will repeat all the way through, and on all our media.

I have tried all the cleaning methods our printer allows, used different profiles and changed heater settings.

I have recently spoken to an other company who are having the same problems too, has any one else heard of this before??

clean the feed rollers, if you look it will be in line with them. some materials seem to compress more with the rollers giving banding too

The banding is running the opposite way, across the face not down the print….

Is your machine set for automatic wiping?

Yes, I think it’s set to wipe every 20 pass. Also I have changed the wipers, because I thought they might be contaminated.

remove the automatic wiping, it’s not needed, that’s whats probably causing you banding.
See if that cures your problem.

Will you not get ink droplets over longer prints though?

never had much of a problem, try it to see if it cures the banding. if it does it may be as simple as changing all the wipers and setting a lower wipe rate

my jv3 showed some signs of lawnmower effect on solid blacks earlier in BIDIRECTIONAL, all other colours were fine so profile.
Print in UNIDIRECTIONAL to check that everything is fine.
