  • CMX Format Batch Conversion

    Hi!

After an extensive web trawl I have been unable to locate anything that can convert cmx files to png (or even ai/eps/jpeg/gif etc) – despite several claiming to do this none of them can.

As I need to convert several 1000 cmx files for a web project I am developing as you can imagine its becoming a royal pain.

Does anyone know a solution to batch convert cmx files? I tried (in desperation) the batch widget in photopaint even but that wont do vector cmx’s.

I think it can be done with X4 macro’s but I have not looked at how they are done – so prior to headscratching – has anyone got a pointer perhaps on how to set up a macro to read a directory of files (cmx) and convert them to png in X4?

Unbelievably this is actually a sign related project for us!

    Cheers

If Alex Vakulenko doesn’t have an idea then nobody will.

Hope this is of some help.

    Tim.

good old Alex, one of the Corel guys

Are you talking very basic Corel’s, like just basic vector and nothing over complicated?

    Hi.

Yes in essence the cmx’s are the clipart from one of their ancient discs, so in reality they are simple clipart.

I need to be able to create a png representation of that cms file – with a transparent background as per the cmx- so i would hope i could get a 24bit png.

Just tried the converter macro that came with Draw (X4) which converted 3 (sample) cmx files from a given folder and converted them to png. It seemed to work ok not sure regarding the background though. Exporting to png from Draw X4 has no background.

Wasn’t aware that X4 shipped with anything, I’ll dig and see where they are then, thanks for the heads up.

    Hey guys thanks!

The converter did exactly what I wanted. I wouldn’t have known that existed if it wasn’t for you.

Nothing in the docs online anywhere so an interesting lesson.
