  • Projecting Animated LED Pharmacy Cross.

Posted by Dave Harrison on 25 January 2009 at 12:20

I’ve had an inquiry from a Pharmacy and they are asking about having an LED illuminated and animated cross. . . ( the type that seem to be quite popular in Europe )
Is there a manufacturer of this type of sign or are they all bespoke ?
I’ve had a quick look through the suppliers list on the toolbar and a quick look on google, but there doesn’t seem to be an obvious uk supplier. .. loads of options to import a 1000 units from china but tbh I only require 2 units and I’d rather a uk/european product.

    Regards Dave 🙂

    Dave
You could try http://www.ontarget-signs.com – they might be able to help – or a customer of mine told me you can use an LED controller, normally used with RGB LEDs, on green LED and it will allow the lights to flash/dim etc – but for a controlled animation its maybe not the right thing
    Cheers

I have a few videos and pictures of the ones we use,( cant put them up here on this tread) they are costly though, but do a very effective job. beware of planning though as they are a bit in your face , and planners don’t like them much.

    pm sent.

will post video on anther thread.

Without a doubt, the type of sign your customer is referring to is a neon sign with 3 or 4 crosses, each inside the other, with a 3 or 4 channel chaser, which makes a very impressive, very bright, sign . . . I have seen them all round Europe and have supplied many to my customers, who have all been very happy . . . COST is the big Hurdle though . . . Most won’t pay the price for quality 😛

Thanks Ben, but I think the one thats been asked for and what Im looking for is the Continental version where the profile of the box is shaped as a cross.

    Hi Graeme.

I remember this job well, our client didn’t go for them in the end, the main factors being cost and gentle advice from the planning officer. It might be worth giving Ian Johnston a PM, he was extremely helpful.

I saw a few importers at Sign UK, I think they have dropped in price now but the nice ones came from a company in Italy if I remember correctly. I will try and dig some more information out for you.

    Regards Dave Harrison.
