I wanted to put together a leaflet to hand out to my customers when they pick up their vehicle with new graphics on. On it I wanted to put aftercare instructions like how soon to wash the vehicle after new graphics, use of jet washes etc etc. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on after care that helps the customer look after their graphics and to help them to keep their graphics looking at their best.
    Thanks for any input 😀

I always give the following printout to all my customers:-

Vehicle signs are one of the most cost effective ways to
    advertise your business.

To ensure you get the best possible service from the signs that
have just been applied to this vehicle, please bear the following
    points in mind:-

Any small bubbles visible in freshly applied vinyl graphics will
Disappear in a few days – This is quite normal.

Graphics should not normally be washed for about a week after
application (adhesives need time to flow to build a stronger bond
    with the surface).

Standard car washes may then be safely used, but care should be
taken with high pressure wands or washers. Spray pressure must
not be more than 1,500 Pounds of water per square inch, and
temperatures should be no higher than 180 degrees F (64.5 C).
When these washes are used, the nozzle should be kept at least a
foot away from the vehicle and at a perpendicular angle.

If at some point in the future you wish to remove these graphics
this can be achieved as follows:-

Gently heat with a hair drier (this helps to soften the vinyl and
the glue), it will then be possible to carefully peel away the
vinyl in one piece. Any remaining marks or glue can then be
removed using a suitable solvent such as white spirit or
    "Autoglym" tar and adhesive remover.

Wow Phil that describes exactly what I wanted to say, I must admit I generally advise no washing for 48 hours after application but the reasons you give are very good. What do you think about car washes? Most of the driving school cars are put through car washes.

I print out something very similar to Phill on card about A6 size (if this size exists? Half an A5) then I punch a hole in the top with the paper punch and tie this to either rear view mirror or steering wheel when vehicle is finished, nicked that idea from another signmaker. Looks quite good.

Not got any diagrams to go with that Phill.

    Its perfect.

Is it copylefted (open license) by any chance?

Thanks for posting that Phill. Very useful indeed.

In these days of litigation etc is it worth taking it a step further and getting proof the customer received after care instructions? Perhaps signing a form and keeping a copy? Or am I being paranoid 😛
