try & find Colour choice or Versaworks to download or get in touch with Roland for a copy. What RIP will depend on the year of the machineKev

thanks Kev i already have a copy of versaworks but as the usb device
has not installed correctly versaworks cant find a usb device
i just need the computers to recognize the printer -
If it is a SP300 and not an SP300V I don’t think it will work with versaworks. The V on the SP300V I think stands for versaworks, so you would have to run colour choice. I think I read somewhere on the Roland site if you want to run versaworks with the older SP300 you need a dongle for it to detect the printer. I also think on the V model it says not to install the drivers for windows XP & Vista as they are part of Versaworks. I think Chris Wool asked about this when he visited Roland at the end of last year.

thanks i now have cracked the usd problem.
i was because i was using a 10meter long usb cable after reading some other posts there is sometimes a problem with long cables.
so i used a small cable and got the usb to work.
i think you are spot on about versaworks not working on the older machine i just need to find colour choice that works now. i have a version of colour choice 4.1 for a cj500 but it dose not have files for the sp300 -
go to rolands site and download colourrip 2.2, but i can not see how to set it up for USB. only ever done tcp/ip
although the download says its a upgrade and must have CR1.1 loaded it did load well last night on to my laptop.
you then need the profiles the roland ones will get you started but recommend the ALLPRINT supplies ones.if this works it will be well worth the hassle nice solid program just lacking the latest imports
the cr2.2 was supplied with the sp300 until it became a sp300v then versaworks

thanks i have now downloaded the colour rip software
i just need to find out how to make my usb plotter to have a tcp/ip address
for the software to work . i have seen little devises call printer servers that connect to a router just not sure if they create an ip address or a mac address just will have to suck it and see will let you all know how it worked out
Jason -
are you printing with the driver yet you said that you had loaded that
chris
-
yes the roland driver is installed and shows up in my printers folder
but the colour rip only shows the option for for lpt1 or tcp/ip no option for the usb -
when i use no other programs and just go to my pictures folder and select print image and select sp300 from my printers list it will print to the versacamm but there are no options in the printer driver to add more icc profiles for the media im printing on so the prints are not great. colour rip
will not let me print to the usb only a lpt1 or tcp/ip hope i have explained it a little better.

trying to find out about usb and colour rip i know it can be done cos another versacamm was running on it.
might be worth a call to roland,
have you tried the different profiles within the driver the PGVP would be a good start, on to a gloss vinyl.
whats wrong with the prints so far.chris

Thanks for every ones help. finally got things sorted i did have to call in a engineer to sort it. also change the printer to a bulk system so I’m back in business. only £250 down and i have a new pump at that too.
so not too bad.
time to do some work
