    Hi,

I’m at my wits end with this machine and wondered if anyone can shed any light on how to get it working properly?

I used to run my own sign company for a couple of years and used a Graphtec which set me back quite a bit but was well worth it as I never had any problems and the customer service was perfect!

I decided (stupidly) to sell my business when I went to college. I finished college, did a couple of other bits and to cut a long story short decided I wanted to come back to the sign industry!!

Now money is quite tight for me at the moment so could not afford a decent make cutter, even a used one. So I hunted around and thought that perhaps a chinese cutter wouldn’t be so bad to start off with until I could afford a better one – BIG MISTAKE!!!

I bought a used cutter which came with art cut software although I do have flexi sign which I prefer. Problem is, I cannot for the love of money get this stupid thing to work properly 👿

The cutter has got a ‘KING’ label on the front of it but that is its only marking I can find…..no model numbers, nothing!

I’ve tried all the models under the KING brand in art cut (as flexi doesn’t even have a KING brand!!) and none of them work properly………

PROBLEM: when I click cut/plot the cutter moves but does not cut what I had in the software!! It only seems to be cutting random straight lines??

I’ve tried looking up info on the net but with no idea of what model it is I’m really struggling – I can’t even find anything for KING in general?

Can anyone help me please?? I know I’ve made a BIG boo boo buying this cutter and I want to kick myself but now I’ve spent the money I don’t have any choice but to try and sort it out 🙁

    Here’s hoping……

Is there a HPGL driver you can test?
sounds like curve command is being ignored

I know this may sound terribly dumb but I’m not sure what you mean by a HPGL driver? As my other cutter set straight up 1st time and never had any probs I never needed to know about this side of things – just the work side lol!!!

I am so regretting buying this!!

HPGL driver did not work 🙁 Using art cut at the mo.

Going through corel and it seems to have picked up drivers for the cutter as a graphtec CE2000-60???

    ODD INDEAD lol

Art cut does not have graphtec in the driver list but I know flexi does as I used to use it with my old cutter!! So I will try that as well in a minute – if no joy I’ll try the Roland drivers!!

….Oh and yes all the port settings are correct (as far as I can tell) and the baud rates match. I had to change them on the cutter and the software to use the USB but I’m now trying serial so have changed them both back!

Naughty??? I think I must have been down right evil to deserve this LMAO!!

    BAH HUMBUG :lol1:

would presume plotter has a mode switch to HPGL?

anyway…. presume there is a thick bulky manual or website that can help

LOL….thick bulky manual consists of about a 10 page ‘manual’ in directly translated chinese 😮

dont forget to post a pic :lol1:

the HPGL standard is pretty straight forward, bound to work on something.

do a search on these boards as a lot of people have problems setting up chinese cutters with usb.

    Cheers John

If you can use the serial port……..the usb’s on these are actually usb/serial converters and can be problematic.

    AGGGHHHH!!!!! Nothing is working 👿

I have been slowly working my way through all the different drivers supplied with art cut and all I can achieve is random straight lines or nonsense squiggles 😥

I can see me taking a hammer to this soon 😕

I think the brand of the machine will be Kingcut rather than just King – so try googling for this and see if you can find the proper drivers, AFAIK they are the same as the P-Cut machines, just with a different badge on them, so it may be worth trying the drivers for that as well.

Get any Pcut or Kingcut drivers you can and just try them one at a time until you find something that will work. I think Flexi will support the PCut ones ( lots of owners of P Cuts seem to have ‘bought’ Flexi to run it, going by the posts that have been on here in the past ! ) but you may need to update your version to get the correct driver for it.

Is there a command or options button on the cutter itself? My Graphtec used to do similar when I had the GPGL and HPGL settings on the machine wrong.

King are also Refine, is there Refine in the listing in artcut?

Refine plotters run on a standard HPGL driver or some use Roland drivers ( the machine is a Roland copy).

Right – thats it….I quitted!!!!! pardon my useless english there lol!!

The lights on the display started to flicker so I gave it a light tap (only used my fingers, not a hammer honest!!) then smoke started coming out and it stank of burning plastic 😮

Turned it all off and got my other half to take a look at it. He opened it up and found a chip inside had burnt 👿

He’s cleaned up where it burnt and taken the chip out – not sure whether this was the problem all along or whether its just another problem which was a horrible coincidence!! I’m just sick of the sight of the thing now so I’m just going to get rid of it as spares or repairs and save up for a decent make 2nd hand one (probably another graphtec like I had before!!).

Oh well – lesson learned I suppose 🙄

no, i tried the usb cable first and then, after reading the advice here, tried the serial cable. had it plugged into the serial port – didn’t think a serial cable would fit in a parallel port??

no it wont… although i am annoyed about reading this…. if you want please name the supplier and manufacturers and so the others dont make this mistake as they surf here… then perhaps email your supplier & manufacturer with this link here to show the problems you was having. We welcome the supplier and manufacturer to register here and discuss your problems if it helps, UKSB has very large user base and is read worldwide, we don’t want peopl buying equipment and it fails on them.

well I bought it second hand from someone on ebay who has very kindly refunded my money after the smoking incident and has said don’t even bother sending it back as it would be a waste of money!!

As for manufacturers/distributers to be able to contact with regards to the problems I’ve had I would love to know how to get their details as I’ve looked on the internet and can’t find any info – hence I ended up here lol!!!

I’dlike to thank allyou guys on here though that have tried to help – its very kind of you to take the time to try and help…..thankyou x
