  • Double sided foam tape supplier

Posted by Chris Stansfield on 9 December 2008 at 23:25

I have some signs to make, approx 200off at A5 size, going to be digi print mounted onto 1mm rigid pvc. these will be going on a rough textured finish laminate.

i need an adhesive for the back of these signs, the ideal would be the foam tape, but i can only find that in small rolls so far, can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier that sells in bigger rolls minimum size of 150mm but ideally bigger

    cheers

im all for tools to make things easier, but would have just preferred an answer if possible as was at home, and dont like installing browser add-ons on that machine. And if post are just going to get like that the boards are going to start getting a little less personal.

sorry, i will install toolbar shortly and ask there.

have you thought about getting the pieces ready done with adhesive on the back, then applying the digi prints? My silk screener supplies these oversize so I can mount prints and then trim. Hope that makes sense

the printing isnt a problem, its a full colour print and would prefer to do inhouse anyway, just the adhesive that is something i have not had before. Good suggestion though and i will ask my printer if he knows or has anything.

sorry you feel that way Chris but i look at the toolbar as an extension of the boards mate and will continue to push folk to use it whenever i can… it is a very helpful free sign business resource that can only get better with time.
People will ALWAYS ask on the boards for recommendations and if i see one that’s not already on the toolbar, ill add it. It keeps everything in one place and makes searching for a company or product much easier.
You asked for a supplier of double sided tape, i could have given one… but on a quick search on the toolbar i saw four or more, so i gave you the catagory on the toolbar that they are listed under.
because you choose not to use the toolbar is not really my fault, i am only trying to help you.

    Rob , just a point,
when someone asks for a supplier, in is because they want a recommendation, not just to pick one out of a list,
Personal recommendation has got to be better surely?
People who answer can often give more info on a certain product from a users point of view,

i agree peter, but recommendations is one thing, replying with a link is another…

i had the option of reply like anyone reading Chris’s post…
although i have many moons ago, i do not use foam stick tape or pads.

    so in turn…
i could have ignored his post.
made a reply with a single link.
made a reply recommending a company that i use.
but i didn’t, i cant give a recommendation because i don’t have one, but i replied pointing in the direction of several options.

as i said, i am only trying to help.

    anyway… :ball:

Not everybody wants to install the toolbar though and if a question is asked that is obvious if you have the toolbar then you must assume the person who posted the question doesn’t have that facility or has looked and still feels the question is relevant. I too would not like to see loads of questions being answered with ‘look in the toolbar’. I’ve seen a few like that I think it is to the detriment of the boards.

I have got the toolbar think it has it’s place, it won’t however stop me from asking questions about suppliers where I feel appropriate.

In fairness, the man asked for a supplier, not a recomendation. Correct me if I’m wrong, the suppliers on the toolbar already have some validation by just getting on there anyways. Also by reminding people of the availability & handiness of the toolbar he isn’t exactly closing the thread. 😀

I agree, my post maybe comes over harsher than intended. The question asked was about a specific thing (wide foam tape) I would be surprised if every supplier in the category does those ( I may be wrong, it has been known) so this question was looking for a more personal response ‘I’ve gotten wide tape from such and such’ We all have a heap of supplier we can trawl through to find these answers, asking a question here generally eliminates this.

On the other side of this, maybe all newbies (to signmaking not the forum)should be forced to use it and stop asking tedious questions

Gavin, I have just bought a new wing gin plotter, off fleabay for 99p and was wondering if you knew where to fill it with ink

    thank you harry… 😀

At the end of the day… If i personally make a post asking for help, i am hardly going to shoot down individuals replies for not giving the exact info i require. when I have my hand out i take what i can get!

we were asked for a source of double sided tape, i pointed in the direction of several. i tried to help, virtually nobody else did. take my help it or leave it, makes no odds to me. one thing for sure, just becomes some choose not to use something, doesn’t mean i am going to stop referring to it. i actually think its stupid how this thread has developed over my reply of help. 🙄

Fair enough Rob, s’up to you to give what info you want. A lot of the time pointing to the toolbar may be fair enough. I don’t think it’s ‘stupid’ that people voice genuine concern about this becoming too common a reply though.

voicing a concern is not stupid…

    but do it right,
"start a new thread" and discuss your concern that Robert lambie should not be allowed to reply and help folk by suggesting they download and try, or simply look at the 100% free to use toolbar that contains multiple companies/products needed by the poster.
that is what i think is stupid!

It was merely a comment on this thread, I’m not overly concerned but while the point was raised I felt it was a good time to voice my opinion. Maybe a new thread would have been better but probably not needed now 😀
