• Backup Software

Posted by Jason Xuereb on 4 December 2008 at 05:25

    Hey guys,

I’ve gone over the old threads.

I want a piece of software that will duplicate a folder and all the sub folders and files onto another area on the network. But I want to only copy over the changed and new files so the process isn’t so long every time.

Can I achieve this with a simple batch script or can someone recommend a program?

    I use 12 Ghosts Backup http://12ghosts.com/ghosts/backup.htm which is $29.95 or $59.95 for all 12 programs http://12ghosts.com/index.htm
A superb set of programs to make life easier.

I also use Cobian Backup 8 which is free, supported and continually updated by the programmer.

I use good sync from Siber Systems.

From memory about £20. Think it can do what you are after.

Isn’t there a free one on here somewhere – think Rob linked it.

I use File Backup http://www.maxoutput.com/ , very customizable for whatever u want it to do. I use it to transfer entire folders to a backup harddrive but keeping the folders intact with same date etc.. also can set versions of a file so it makes FB01_Corel.CDR on a corel file, basically this is the 2nd last saved file.

With regards what u r saying, to copy all the data and then do incremental backups… you can do that with most advanced backup software.

XCOPY is used a bit by me, but on the server I have Shadow Copies set so it creates copied of each file 3 times a day, so if it gets damaged we can recall it from the copy a few hours before.

Which one do you recommend to do incremental backups and also a complete backup to another external drive. I’ve had a look at all the links but not sure which one though.
    Can anyone help?

    Robert. 😕
