doorplate blanks
Posted by Shelly & Jim on 20 November 2008 at 10:04Hi does anyone know of a supplier of blanks for door signs, preferably brushed aluminium. Could get a sheet of skybond cut to suitable sizes but the edges might not be too clever. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Try plastic laminate from Suregrave or Mastergrave. Its designed to be engraved, but will quite happily accept cut vinyl. They both offer cut to size, or just buy a sheet and slice it yourself.

Thanks Graeme. Don’t know either of these companies, but will have a look. Do you think they might do brushed ali type finish?
I have always just made my own, but would be easier just buying in the blanks and applying the lettering.Cheers,

I have just done some using dull polished stainless which I got cut to size at The Metal Supermarket.
They worked well and looked very smart.

Jim, I use Badge & Engraving World for doorplates etc.
The brushed Ali finish you want is called Metallex 350.
They supply these engraved for £4 – £5 but they will sell you ready cut blanks as well.
You could you course buy a sheet of the stuff from Suregrave etc.Absolutely stunning fast service. Just send an ai file at actual size for any engraving.

Or you could try Pantograph Services who have all their prices on their website.

Choose either metallex which is a plastic metal effect and is excellent or Kemco which is similar to di-bond but is an engraving laminate with a metal face.
They can all be ordered with a bevelled edge.Dave
