    Hi Nik

Will you have to load your pc programmes onto the laptop first?

Give Dave a shout as youll need to set up firewalls etc to prevent one of the machine’s accessing the Internet whilst still being visible on the network……this may be a setting in the actual router!!!

Make sure that both computers are on the same workgroup. Also XP computer should be updated, because for Vista and Xp computers to see each other, Win XP machine needs patch,
    you can download it here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120
Then try sharing some folders and see if it can be accessed.
For internet – usually it is enough to connect to network and computer automatically get all setting from router. If DHCP is disabled (computer doesn’t get IP etc automatically), then it means you have to manually enter IP adress, DNS, gateway etc.
    And also check firewalls.
    Hope it helped

Start button / All Programs / Accessories / Remote Desktop Connection

Might be able to find computer name or if you know it, type it in… or type the IP in of that PC.

The PC must have a username and password on it for your everyday use.

    it will connect 😛

however if it is XP Home edition then forget it
