Ok I need to make up some template bumper stickers for a client

    Now concern time….

    1. Will un laminated bumper stickers last long??
    2. What’s a decent size for bumper stickers without making them too big and costing too much for the client
    3. What material to use?

SP300v with Genuine Eco sol inks

I’ve got Ritrama Rijet 100 and some APS DS3005 there….. any of these any good for bumper stickers?

Probably get about 6 months out of them what with UV fading & abrasion through washing – but as much as 2 years if really dark colours are used.

Not much sticks to textured ABS (unpainted bumpers), but your normal 3-4 year material will be fine. I’d never classify bumper stickers the same way as a livery – it’s a temporary bit of cheap fun / advertising.

Reasonable size – might be easier to know what what they want to spend then size accordingly. Most I’ve seen are around 300-350mm long and 60-70mm high. The usual ‘my other car is a …..’ / ‘I LUV SCOTCHLAND’ sort of thing.

Yeah they are for a club but they want something that lasts roughly 9-12 months

They don’t really have a price at the moment so it’s upto me really, they will spend the same amount I’m sure no matter what size just means they get more or less

    20cm by 5cm.

    Monomeric vinyl.

    They’ll last long enough.

I can’t speak for eco solvent but I’m sometimes surprised at how long our full solvent stickers will last. As an experiment we put an unlaminated sticker on a customer’s adventure holiday Land Rover and kept another for comparison. Nine months later there was a bit of fading, but I was pleasantly surprised at how little. I was amazed when the customer told me that it had survived three sand storms, and countless steam cleans.

I don’t know whether it’s the DS3005, and can’t check until I get into the office, but we bought a roll of material from APS which the rep told me was specifically for stickers. It was matt, and works remarkably well, so we use it quite often now.

Although they’re called "bumper stickers" most of them get stuck on the car paintwork or the rear window. As Dave says, not much sticks to unpainted ABS so, if any of them try that, they won’t be surprised if the corners start to lift after a while.
