  • Wrapping Laminator

    Hi guys,
I have been offered a laminator that appears to be exceptional value, it has the function to:

one side cold and hot laminating, infa red heated, peeling and rolling back paper automatically, photoelectric safety switch, with pedal switch.

    width 1040 – 2300mm
    speed 0 – 5m/min
    thickness 23mm
    rollers dia 45/60
    max temp 150ºC

Is this machine suitable for wrapping materials?? The machine is made in hong kong, I know the general rule is you get what you pay for, but this machine is half the price of any other we can find. Maybe worth the gamble???

    regards

    dan

    It will be suitable.

How the machine performs itself is another story though. Just make sure your not chewing up prints laminating because the money you tried to save could get eaten up rather quickly.

We’re looking at the new laminator and I’m looking at Seal and GBC at the moment.

I want swing out shafts, better tools to help alignment, those twist shafts that grip the core and a few other things.

Looking at the spec i think issue would be narrow diameter rollers over that span. Just my opinion

if you look at most top market machines the rollers will be high grade silicone 75mm-100mm diameter rollers. This allows a larger diameter steel bar to be used which is required on wider laminators to stop the rollers deflecting. That is not to say that the machine will not do what you want it to do but look into it. My first laminator was a basic machine with 60mm rollers & although it did the job it was never perfect even after the dealer replaced the rollers under warranty it was never 100% . The dealer upgraded it in the end because it was costing more to repair than exchange.

    Hope this helps
