    Hi,

I was given a Roland SP300-V around 5 months ago,the machine has been set not used the whole time,I know that it needs new heads, but I was wondering what it will costs to get the machine back to fully working order,I know it’s hard without seeing it but a rough idea.

It has been plugged in the whole time so when the machine beeps that it needs to clean it’s self it has done so.

I spoke to Victory Designs and I had some help from Mat,he recommended I take out a Roland warranty with them which will cost 800 pounds, but it will also have to be switched back to the Roland ECO-SOL ink’s.

Does this option seem like the right way to go?

    Regards,Ben

    Ben
go the Roland route, they’ll basically refurb the machine & replace a majority of the ink train plus you will end up with a years warranty

    Hey Thanks Kev,

yeah I’m thinking that too,I just wondered if there maybe any issues in getting Roland to replace parts, can they put problems down to wear and tear etc? I don’t want to go this route and an engineer come out and say ok you need this this and this which the warranty doesn’t cover.

    Thanks for your input.

Not sure what you are expecting from roland? I doubt if you can take out a warranty, then make a claim for repairs in retrospect.

    Hey,

I’m not sure,I’m just going off the advice I have been given so far.The warranty is threw Victory Design,The way Victory explained it was, they send out a Roland engineer, they asses the machine and tell Victory what parts they need, then the engineer then installs them, or that could have been for any ‘extra’ parts not covered by the warranty?

    Hi Ben,
I enquired back in May about this offer, you can go straight to Roland and get it done. In May you had to purchase a Gold or Silver warranty and a full set of eco inks as well. I was under the impression you had to get the printer to them rather than them come to you but I might be wrong. I thought it was dearer than £800 but again I might be wrong. Also not everything will be covered as I recall it was the print heads, ink lines, caps & pump that were replaced.

    Steve

PS Glad to see you took our advice in the end. :lol1:

    OK,

would there be any benefit to going direct to Roland? yeah I just realized why Victory were asking what cartridges etc the machine has,They did say I had to buy new ECO-SOL inks and the total bill was around 1200 pounds, plus VAT I think. when you say buying a full set of inks it’s just the cartridges right?

what is the difference between Gold and Silver warranties?

    Thanks again,

Not sure on the difference between gold and silver warranties Ben, think you got immediate service with gold but had to wait in line on silver but not sure, best give Roland a call as the deal may have changed now. The full set was just that 4 cartridges CMYK. The reason that they do this deal is to get you back on their ink.

I tried everything to get the heads working about 6 months ago, eventually gave up and order 2 heads from the states,After weeks of waiting and a ‘claim’ made to Paypal, some heads finally turned up but they were wrecked,I think the guy sent them damaged to begin with,Paypal recovered me 150 pounds of the 450 I paid,After this i gave up on the printer.

    Just spoke to Roland,

seems like the best way to go,She read off a huge list of parts they replace for 891 pounds plus VAT,but you also have to pay for the Roland ink which is 200 pounds.

She is emailing me details as we speak, I’ll post them up when I receive it.

    Thanks,Ben

In my last employment, we had to have a head changed and a replacement pump, with the callout charge it came to well over £1000, what they are quoting you sounds like a fantastic deal.

It is the way to go,but I don’t have 1300 pounds right now to throw at something that I’m not 100% sure will bring the money back in,

So I think a bit of re search is in order,Thanks for the input,

Ben, you have already thrown good money after bad,
you have been given good advice from the boards, and despite all that, tried to do things on the cheap,
You will get nothing for nothing, so if you cant afford it, why not stick with the day job, and stop wasting everyones time untill you can?

Not the same SP300V as this oneis it….

    (deja vu)

You want it fixed and making money…GET IN AN ENGINEER. Period.

Have I missed something. In your 1st post you said you were "given the machine" is that given as in given free? If you were & you still don’t think it’s worth spending £1000 on then perhaps you should pass it onto someone else that can make good use of it. Perhaps your future lies elsewhere.

If I were given an SP300 I would be overjoyed at the thought I could get it up & running with a heap of new parts for £1000+vat. 😎

8 pages of ignored advice then a locked thread as it’s getting silly again is it? 😕

I have asked for your advice…I have taken it,however I don’t have the funds right now to go about it right away,as soon as I do,I will be calling Roland.

I think you have taken my previous post the wrong way,I meant do some research to see if the work is there for it,not to find an alternative method of fixing the machine.

Yes the work is out there for practically any venture, the mark between being successful and failure is being able to successfully market your product and ensuring quality above that of your competitors.

You have been told several time that you have an absolute bargain on your hands once repaired. If you are struggling to afford this minor outlay then you are trying to break into the wrong market. Chances are you could sell that machine tomorrow to someone here and make your money back.

All of the advice given in both threads has been given in good faith, but you have gotten quite a few peoples backs up with your continued lack of appreciation for what you have. Take the advice given or give up 🙂

Get an engineer in to do the repairs. As it’s sat unused – it’s costing money just being idle. You tried to do it on the cheap & got stung.

Anybody else here would beg or borrow a grand to suddenly have a fully working VP300 in their lap…with a warranty! There is ALWAYS a market for digital print…but you have to CREATE it. There’s people on here that probably make a grand a week off their Roland printers without too much difficulty…half a dozen banners and a few sets of stickers will see that…
