Wrapping Fibreglass – Any problems?
I might have asked this before!
Are there any problems likely to be encountered wrapping fibreglass panels?
Are there any wrapping vinyls that are more easily removed so the panel could wrapped again with a different design.
I’m thinking of wrapping my Atom’s bonnet which is completely removable and surely has to be the easiest to start on.
All I have to do now is to think of some striking design that ‘fits’ the car! Anyone 🙂

If its a printed wrap I would go for Graphityps system,
just my preference, but most wrap vinyls should be easy to remove up to 3 years, the fibre glass shouldnt be a problem as long as the paint is sound, and you dont overheat it.If you supply the artwork I will do it for free, but it would take a while and I would need the car for about 2 weeks, I use a special system which involves driving the car daily and adjusting the graphics over a period of time

i think you could muck about with the yellow areas but i would leave the rest black as is.

Sorry I’ve not replied sooner – been hectic few days!
Peter, I don’t think I could live without my Atom 🙂 I use it for work each day and I enjoy the journey each way, so much 🙂 I’m usually in work by 7am and the roads are quite clear, it’s more fun in the wet as I can get the back end to step out at lower speed, going round round-a-bouts sideways is such fun.
Chris, not thought about using the Gerber. The print width of the Gerber is 11.8" so would need to join somewhere in the process.
Dave, I only plan doing the yellow bits.
Lots of Atom owners have talked about wrapping but to my knowledge, no one has actually done it. I know a few have had artwork airbrushed but the cost of doing this was about £2500 – ouch!

Print the bottom half of your body as though you were driving naked. That would sure get some looks. Maybe use a leaf to cover any protruding areas.

what is the size of that ft yellow bit inc overhang

Hi Chris
The total length of the front yellow piece (bonnet) is 1.57M which includes the lip that goes under the front.
The width at its widest point is 45cms including lips.
I’m informed the Gerber’s print width is 11.8" – I thought it was a little more than that.

Needs to be eye catching. I might put the web address down each side on the black parts.
Some of the guys have carbon fibre bodywork, costs a bloody fortune, looks great BUT, I don’t want to mimic that – either real or not at all, if you know what I mean.

john the union jack should be easy just time.
make some paper patterns first to get the look right.
some white cast for the back ground some wrap whites may not be glossy enough for you.
or for a different look all in matt.chris
