We moved our JV3-160s and cannot get firewire working again.

So, we are printing via parallel port. This uses alot of ink as pauses and refreshes head every couple of passes.

Are there any ways of speeding up data transfer?

Is there any mileage in replacing parallel cable or setting on PC or JV3.

hi… you need to get another firewire card.. firewire driver.. mimaki firewire driver… etc..

I strongly suggest a local independent computer engineer.

parallel should not be on the mimaki but it is and does pause just to slow data

have you changed pcs or just moved everything?
if you are sure the fw board is faulty then maybe put a print server to the parralel port. seh make about the best on the market and will cost you about £100. this makes the printer networkable and uses tcip as the trannsfer method.

the firewire drivers for that printer can be a pain to setup, and they used to be quite picky as to the type of firewire board used in the pc. so maybe if its a new pc the drivers need re-installing and they can be downloaded from the mimaki website.
