Fixing ali panels to cladding
Hi all,
Got to fit some aluminium composite panels (2 @ 10′ x 5′) onto a new building which is clad with aluminium corrugated panels. What would be the best way of fixing?
They will be fitted quite a long way up and don’t fancy them coming loose and taking flight!!

You could either pop rivet them, use self tapping screws or the self drilling cladding screws.
I think for speed and due to the location I`d go with the latter.

Self drilling screws are great but you NEED a powerful quality cordless drill to use them.

…..and you need to stop pressing the trigger on the cordless when the screw has gone all the way in or it could whip out of your hand and go spinning across the board making a lovely jagged line before dropping to the ground and nearly klonking someone on the head.
Me? No, it never happened. Honest officer.
Or better still use a cordless with a torque setting.

you might want to check the weight of the panels and the loading they will put on the cladding. They are not designed to take anything heavy. You will find they are only designed to take approx 5kg/m2 and that includes the weight of the cladding.
Try to fix to an upright support behind the cladding if possible. They are usually fitted with ‘Z’ beams which are much more substantial. -
Those self drilling screws look just the ticket.
What kind of caps could you use to hide/finish the fitting anyone?
