  • can anyone help looking for a particular lightbox?

Posted by BenRead on 10 September 2008 at 09:55

I went out yesterday to quote on a job for changing the front of a light box. The previous light box i assume must have been supplied by mars. On further inspection i realised that there were no screws to remove the frame to slide the opal out!! Along with that it looked as if there was no frame to remove!!

Has anyone come across this kind of light box and if so how do i remove the existing opal to change?!?

    Cheers Ben

Not done one of these – but similar.

The screws will probably be on the wall side (or as part of the bracket) – 2 top and 2 bottom – the other three sides including panels will then come away as one.

    Hi Mate,

What do you mean by wall side?

When looking around the sign there seemed to be no screws on the outside of the sign only rivets! :s kinda puzzled me!

Universal signcases have a bead which taps in from the front until the L section meets the face. Once in place it should have a few screws on the side/top/bottom about 10mm in to keep it in place. If not, and there is a lip at the front edge where this moulding is inserted, it may be worth trying to remove it by pulling at one end away from the face. If old it may be pretty tight.

Ah, I thought it was one of the projection boxes.

Think it might be time to drill out some rivets 🙂
